Frequently asked questions about Electric Mobility

What is electric mobility?

Electric mobility refers to the use of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids as a sustainable alternative to combustion vehicles, promoting lower CO₂ emissions and greater energy efficiency. With MEO Energia, you can charge your electric vehicle simply and efficiently, benefiting from energy solutions adapted to electric mobility.

What is the Fixed Tariff for MEO Energia's electric mobility?

The Fixed Tariff allows you to pay a uniform price for electricity at any time of the day, without fluctuations - ideal for those who want predictability in the charging cost of their electric vehicle.

What does the Dynamic Tariff for electric mobility consist of?

It is a flexible electricity contract option whose price varies according to the Iberian Electricity Market (MIBEL). Unlike indexed prices, which are based on average values for periods, the Dynamic Tariff adjusts the price every 15 minutes according to the market OMIE, making it possible to achieve savings and promoting a more efficient and sustainable top-up .

Can I switch from the Fixed Tariff to the Dynamic Tariff and vice versa for electric mobility?

Yes, you have the flexibility to switch to the Fixed Tariff or Dynamic Tariff, if your needs or preferences change over time, once a month (on the 1st of each month). To do this, call the MEO Energia helpline: 800 028 028.

What Electricity Network Access Tariff do I have to pay for electric mobility?

In addition to the electricity associated with top-up , MEO Energia also charges the Network Access Tariff (TAR) applicable to electric mobility. The Energy Services Regulatory Authority is responsible for approving theapplicable tariffs on an annual basis.

How much does it cost to charge an electric car with MEO Energia?

The charging cost of an electric vehicle depends on three main components:

  • Energy Price - Value per kWh
  • Tariff for OPCs ( top-up Station Operators) - Cost of using the station or cost of use
  • Taxes and Fees - VAT + EGME (Electric Mobility Management Entity) fee from the PC (each OPC decides whether or not to apply this cost to the final value) and from MEO Energia + IEC (Special Consumption Tax) fee

What is the delivery time of the MEO Energia card? Do I have to activate it to start charging? Does it have a PIN?

The card may take up to 10 business days to arrive at the address you provided. When you receive your Electric Mobility card, it will be active and ready to use at any Mobi.Etop-up station, with no PIN required.

Where can I charge my electric vehicle? Can I use any electric charging station?

You can charge your vehicle atMobi.E public charging stationsas long as your vehicle’s charging port is compatible with the station. All you need is an active card.

How does charging work? Can I pay directly at the charging station?

To charge, follow these steps:

  • Choose the type of cable and connect it to the vehicle
  • Tap the card and start charging
  • When charged, swipe the card at the station to end the session and remove the cable from the vehicle

Charges will be levied on the following month's Electric Mobility bill, and it is not possible to pay directly at the station, including fast stations.

At MEO Energia, the price of energy in peak and off-peak hours are the same.

How long does it take to charge an electric vehicle?

Energy price calculation formula (€/kWh)

Conditions effective as of February 24, 2026

PENERGIA = (POMIE + K) × (1 + FP)

If, after applying the formula, the result is negative, the energy price of €0 will be applied to the time period in which this occurs.

Where:

PENERGIA: Energy price (€/kWh), valid every 15 minutes.

POMIE: Represents the cost of electricity (€/kWh) within the Iberian market in Portugal (OMIE PT), corresponding to the consumption period, considered in time intervals that coincide with the market time units (MTU) made available to participants in the daily market. Prices available for consultation at www.omie.es/pt.

K: €0.065/kWh. Includes the cost of system management, TV Guide deviation costs, TV Guide marketing margin.

FP (Loss Factor): Adjustment factor for losses in the Low Voltage or Medium Voltage network, for every 15 minutes of consumption, applied in accordance with the factors approved by ERSE (Energy Services Regulatory Authority).

The energy price, calculated using the formula above, will be multiplied by the quarter-hourly consumption (15 minutes) from the load diagrams provided by MOBI.E to obtain the energy cost, plus the value of the Network Access Tariffs.

If the information provided by MOBI.E does not allow for breakdown by quarter-hour, the energy consumed will be distributed evenly over the total duration of the session.
