Mobility Service

  • What is the MEO Energia Mobility service and what tariffs are available?

The MEO Energia Mobility service allows you to charge your electric car easily, with nationwide coverage, total flexibility between tariffs and 100% green electricity.
There is no loyalty and the MEO SIM card Energia is free, with no annual or monthly fees.

The service is provided with a physical card, there is no virtual version or app.

    Rates available:
    • Fixed Tariff: the same energy price at any time of day, with no surprises.
    • Dynamic TariffThe price varies every 15 minutes according to the Iberian Peninsula market (OMIE), allowing you to choose the most economical times to charge your car. You can follow these values on the OMIE website or via the Information Service.
  • Can I use the " MEO SIM card Energia" outside of Portugal?

Currently, it is not possible to use Mobi.E network cards outside Portugal to charge electric vehicles. There are some important limitations to consider:

    1. Incompatibility of systems: There is still no international electric mobility management model that is compatible with the system used in Portugal.
    2. Lack of interoperability: The Portuguese top-up system, although advanced, lacks interoperability with networks in other European countries.
    3. Payment methods vary: Abroad, payment methods for electric vehicle top-up vary. They can include mobile phone applications, credit cards or specific cards for local top-up stations.
    4. Planning required: For trips abroad with an electric vehicle, advance planning is recommended. This includes researching the top-up solutions available at your destination, taking into account the vehicle's range and the planned route.
    5. Potential for future internationalization: Mobi.E, the public company that manages the electric mobility network in Portugal, has plans to internationalize the Portuguese model in the coming years. This could allow interoperability between countries in the future.

For international trips, electric vehicle users need to adapt to the local top-up systems in the countries they visit.

  • What is the delivery time of the MEO Energia card? Do I have to activate it to start charging? Does it have a PIN?

When you receive your Electric Mobility card, it is active and ready to be used throughout the Mobi.E public charging network, without the need for a PIN

You can charge your vehicle atMobi.E public charging stationsas long as your vehicle's charging port is compatible with the station. All you need is an active card.

  • How does charging work? Can I pay directly at the charging station?

    To charge, follow these steps:
    1. Select the type of cable and connect it to the vehicle
    2. Swipe your card and start the top-up
    3. When charged, swipe the card at the charging station to end the session and unplug the cable from the vehicle

Charges will be billed on the Electric Mobility statement for the following month; payment cannot be made directly at the charging station, including at fast-charging stations.
